About us

Refugee Futures is a charity which wants to hear refugees and people seeking asylum tell us that you feel welcome and included in Stockton-on-Tees.

We work together with other people and organisations to create opportunities that enable you to:

  • Feel welcome and able to find your way around Stockton-on-Tees, the services you need and the activities and facilities that are available for you to enjoy.
  • Be useful and involved in the community while you are seeking asylum, by helping in Refugee Futures and other local organisations.
  • Be more confident about being ready for work in the UK by developing your skills through training and work placements.
  • Be connected and included by having opportunities to meet other local people and be part of sharing accurate information about the asylum system, and positive stories about what refugees bring to Stockton-on-Tees.
We work in ways which are inclusive, reaching out to and embracing the diversity that exists within refugee and asylum-seeking communities.

Engaging with and influencing Refugee Futures

Refugee Futures was set up in 2021 so we are quite a new charity. We would like people who have experience of the asylum system to engage with the organisation and to influence:

  • our development
  • what we do
  • the way we run the charity

You can engage with Refugee Futures through:

  • Volunteering with us and becoming part of the Refugee Futures’ team
  • Participating in the advisory group which is currently being developed
  • Exploring what being a trustee means

We hope you will want to stay in Stockton-on-Tees when you get leave to remain and that you feel a sense of belonging and fulfilment by living, working and being involved in the local area.
